Garcon!
No vulgar language, please, Sir
Don't worry, we won't be staying the night
Would you like the soup or the salad?
Just sock it to me!
You can't bring that thing in here!
Fine, fine, I'll put my shoes back on.
April, 1975
Well there's a whole lotta mud
Way down in my soul
There's a whole lotta mud
In this deep, deep hole
When you dig you a hole
And you fill it up with blood
There'll be a hole with a whole lotta mud
Wartime
Towards one frantic energy
Fighting through another
The crowd pushed their way to the doors of the train station.
There had been distant gunfire all day,
Bombs all night,
The morning papers hadn't arived,
The radio shouted out, "Death! Death!"
The Interrogation
Further thoughts brought only paralysis
To the man in the chair.
They'd come at night with upraised arms,
He'd been beaten,
Then they'd taken him there.
He blanched before their questions,
He shrank before their blows,
And they got him to sign the confession,
Three minutes before they broke his nose.
The Occupation
For the buildings are on fire,
The money won't buy you food.
The man on TV is a liar,
All the soldiers share a desperate mood.
James' Saturday Afternoon
A coffee cup so full of wine
Which will flow in my belly.
Oh, that would be fine!
While I rest upon the couch supine.
East Coast Insecurity
Rhode Island to your Massachusetts,
Connecticut to your New York,
New Jersey to your Pennsylvania,
Delaware to your Maryland!
Life is nothing more than the burning tip of a cigarette. And we never think the pack is going to run out.
Watching TV
Endless waves crashed on the sandy beach.
I sat quietly with my face in the breeze.
I looked on down at the ends of my feet,
And you were there, you were asleep.
We Americans, we're moths on a light fixture. We complain about our positions on its surface, always pushing and shoving for a better one, while the rest of the world flits about in the air discussing the quality of the light.
